Every winery has a wine they’ve been working toward. For us, this is it.
The 2024 Heritage Pinot Noir is the first wine to include fruit grown on our own estate from the McCollum Family Vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. It’s a milestone we’ve been building toward since we planted the first vines in 2021.
This Pinot is a blend of three hillside vineyards, all LIVE certified sustainable. McCollum Family Vineyard makes up 48% of the blend. The remaining fruit comes from Calkins Lane and Bryan Creek vineyards in the Chehalem Mountains AVA, where the vines average 30 years of age. The combination of our young estate and those well-established hillside sites gives the wine a balance that’s hard to manufacture: freshness and depth, together in the same glass.
The 2024 growing season gave us everything we could have asked for. A wet winter and cool spring led to a long, even ripening window. Temperatures stayed moderate through summer with very few heat spikes. Then August came in cooler than usual, extending hang time even further and letting the fruit develop slowly. The result is a wine with bright acidity and silky tannins that feel effortless rather than engineered.
Our winemaker, Gina Hennen, puts it best: “Intense notes of fresh blackberry, cedar bark, star anise, and purple lilac shine in this complex and dynamic wine. The palate walks the difficult balance between chewy and flowing, with a finish that lasts for days. This is a lovely example of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir at its best.”
